Water Damage Repair Cost Calculator

Organize water damage costs by stage. Keep room floor area, wall repairs, ceiling repairs and painting separate, and record completed work outside your planned budget.

Build a staged water-damage scope

Enable JavaScript to record stages, independent repair measurements and contractor quotes. Reference prices apply to selected repair examples; custom work may need a contractor quote. No example amount is your estimate.

Keep floor, wall, ceiling and paint areas separate

A room's floor area is context. Enter the actual cut-out dimensions for each wall or ceiling. Painting has its own area and scope; full-surface paint replaces patch-only paint.

One room, three separate measurements

ABC
Floor context: 120 sq ft
10 × 12 ft; background only
Wall repair: 16 sq ft
8 × 2 ft known strip
Ceiling repair: 6 sq ft
2 × 3 ft known patch
Do not add these into one damaged-area figure. Floor area is not a wall, ceiling, painting or floor-repair quantity. Schematic, not to scale.

Use these measurements: Rebuild an 8 × 2 ft wall strip

The ceiling example records a 2 × 3 ft ceiling patch (6 sq ft); the wall example records an 8 × 2 ft wall strip (16 sq ft) in a 10 × 12 ft room (120 sq ft). Both keep completed source treatment and drying separate. Reference prices apply to selected repair examples; custom work may need a contractor quote.

Unknown stages remain outside the priced subtotal

A stain alone does not establish repair area. Unknown removal, insulation or drying costs remain listed without a price. For contaminated water, structural or electrical concerns, or suspect materials, generic reference pricing stops. Existing professional quotes can still be organized and labeled as supplied amounts.

Scope and safety reference: EPA mold cleanup guidance recommends fixing water problems, drying affected materials and seeking experienced help for contaminated water. Checked October 1, 2026. This guidance does not provide repair prices. Price review: our cost methodology.
